2019 GB Championships Results

It was a successful night for Welsh Boxing at the English Institute of Sport on Thursday 5th December.

Jake Dodd had a very successful evening, beating GB Boxer Will Cawley, who has just come back from winning Gold and “Boxer of the Tournament” at the Tammer International Tournament in Finland.

Cawley had looked comfortable in the first round of his bout with Jake Dodd, but the referees’ decision to dock Dodd a point in the early part of round two seemed to inspire the Welshman who relentlessly pursued his opponent around the ring for the remainder of the contest to secure a 3-2 split decision win.

The first bout was Helen Jones (WAL) v Chloe Watson (GB), which Helen lost on a 4:1 split.

The final bout of the evening was Sam Leyson (WAL) v Thomas Pogson (ENG). This was the third time of meeting between the two boxers, with Sam winning the two previous bouts. Sam continued his winning streak, and won the bout on a 4:1 split.
