NEW APPOINTMENT - COMPETITIONS & COURSES OFFICER

Welsh Boxing is delighted to announce the appointment of Jenna Perry as its new Competitions and Courses Officer. This followed a rigorous recruitment process involving a strong contingent of applicants.

Jenna is a familiar face within Welsh Boxing, having volunteered within the sport for the last ten years. She has held a number of roles, primarily in the East and South divisions as a Safeguarding Officer, Judge and, more recently, as one of the Tournament Supervisors. She has also volunteered at Sugars ABC, Highcross ABC and Llynfi Valley ABC.

Jenna’s role within the organisation will be to co-ordinate and grow Welsh Boxing’s competitions and courses calendar, consisting of championships, box cups and coach education courses, as well as working with club leads across all four divisions. At divisional level she will assist with risk assessments and liaising with the respective Tournament Supervisors and officials. Jenna will also be working with a number of partners to develop a wider CPD calendar, which will aim to benefit both coaches and officials alike.

On the appointment, Head of Community Boxing Gareth Evans stated, “it’s exciting to welcome Jenna to the team, especially as it is someone who has come from within the membership to help us grow amateur boxing across Wales. Jenna’s passion for the sport and her ideas were brilliantly demonstrated through the interview process and she fully deserves this opportunity. Her experiences and already established connections also mean that she’ll be well equipped to hit the ground running.”

On her appointment, Jenna added, “I’m excited to be a part of the ongoing progression of the sport and be in a position to directly influence the growth of boxing in Wales. I’m looking forward to working with the clubs, officials and new partners and being active on the other side of the fence.”

Jenna officially starts her role on 5 August and will be in touch with key stakeholders shortly after.
