Police Community Clubs of Great Britain

Dear Member Clubs,

The Policy Community Clubs of Great Britain – Kickstart Programme to assist our boxing clubs and membership

The Police Community Clubs of Great Britain predominately focus on engagement with amateur boxing across the United Kingdom; they are offering boxing clubs an opportunity to join numerous other sports in an opening to participate in the ‘Kickstart Programme’ which provides huge benefits to both the individuals selected and the club itself.  Note that this enables our clubs to employ registered members at no cost to our organisation and each club could receive a parachute payment of £500 into its account.

With this fantastic opportunity, our clubs can join hundreds of other similar sports clubs across the United Kingdom who are now taking advantage of this ‘free’ service.

The purpose of the project is to provide unemployed young people employment (in our case within amateur boxing clubs across Wales) skills to enhance their personal CV, aiding progress to gain substantive employment; and by demonstrating a commitment to the agreed roles and increase their personal employability status.

The programme is being administered thanks to funding from HM Government and the Department of Works and Pensions (DWP).

Criteria.  The broad criteria for funding these employment roles are as follows:

§  Open to all genders

§  For those aged between 18 and 24 years

§  Are currently unemployed/receiving universal credits

§  Currently not in education

§  Candidates will be expected to carry out 25 hours of employment per week within their club

§  They may or may not be current members of sports clubs

It is anticipated that boxing clubs will nominate one or possibly two roles to be employed in this programme; the over-riding principle is that your club must be able to demonstrate that the posts offered are meaningful and justify paid employment for 25 hours per week.

Please note that there is absolutely no cost to the candidate or the club whatsoever. This opportunity is for all clubs and there is no requirement for a club to be an affiliated member of the Police Clubs of Great Britain.

Successful candidates will be directly employed by the Police Clubs GB Limited. During the course of each employees’ term within the club, they will be given opportunities to attend various courses and seminars to enhance their employability skills and profiles (subject to when COVID restriction are lifted and/or allow). All placements will be introduced to the Police Clubs’ ‘Community Engagement Programmes’ and advised on pathways to engage with hard-to-reach communities both within and beyond the club on behalf of their club.

Again, please note; all courses will be delivered within the constraints currently imposed by the Welsh Government concerning the current COVID pandemic.
