The Tylorstown Twins

The Tylorstown Twins

Boxing’s ability to inspire and capture the imagination is powerful, and its capacity to connect communities is renowned.

Few times, however, has there been a story as unbelievable as the Tylorstown Twins, who brought two communities together and delivered a moment to really remember.

It was a first for Lloyd Davies of Tylorstown ABC, as well as everyone else!

“We were looking to possibly match one of our twins for our home show in February,” explained Lloyd. “However, due to their age and weight category it was proving difficult until I stumbled upon a set of twins from Worcester – both sets looking for their first fight and both sets born on the exact same day and year.”

Same weights and birthdays, it’s fair to assume that Jenson and Logan Fisher of Tylorstown, and Tyler and Noah Lawrence from Worcester quite probably made boxing history as Tylorstown ABC enjoyed its club show in early February.

Tylorstown’s Fishers unfortunately both lost their bouts very narrowly on points, but Lloyd has assured Welsh Boxing that the club is looking to travel to Worcester at some point in order to turn both those results around!

The story is a great sign of engagement with boxing within local communities, and a positive nod to the future while the sport is doing so well in Wales in the present.

“It's brilliant to see the next generation of boxers coming through,” commented Lloyd, “especially with other sports in the community competing for their attendance/membership.

“The Croft twins are a great example of what can be achieved through hard work & dedication. They're role models for all young prospects in Welsh boxing, and hopefully our twins will have their own journey and can also become role models for the subsequent generation.”

Lloyd concluded by expressing his hope that the story can continue to inspire people to get involved.

“Hopefully others will notice the splash these twins are making in the boxing scene and be hungry themselves for a piece of the pie,” he concluded.
