Welsh Boxing understands the vital role coaches play within the sport and we are committed to providing ongoing development opportunities for every coach at every level of the Coaching Pathway.
Welsh Boxing wants to support every coach to be able to have a positive impact on our communities as a whole and the young people who dream of wearing the Welsh vest.

Boxing Leaders Award
Entry Level Qualification
- A one-day course designed for volunteers and assistants working in the gym.
- Boxing Leaders coach within a supervised environment, supporting safe development.
- They create fun, engaging, and challenging opportunities for boxers.
- Ongoing progression is supported through the WABA licensing process.
The coaching pathway
Assistant Coach Award
Assistant Club Coach Qualification
- A two-day course designed for coaches who have achieved their Leaders award and want to progress to Lead Club Coach.
- Prepares coaches to support the Lead Coach in structured training environments.
- Includes pad work, circuit training, and developing core coaching skills.
- Ongoing development continues through the WABA CPD programme.

Club Coach Award
Lead Coach Qualification
- A four-day course designed for coaches leading sessions and managing corner teams.
- Prepares coaches to confidently lead sessions within a club environment.
- Coaches will learn to safeguard members and prepare boxers for training and competition.
- Ongoing development continues through the WABA licensing process.
