Welsh Boxing is pleased to announce the appointment of Gemma Price as its new Club Development Director.

Gemma brings more than 14 years of experience within community boxing, being involved in Llanrumney Phoenix Boxing Club throughout that time. Her extensive experience in club development, project delivery, fundraising and community engagement will provide valuable insight as Welsh Boxing continues to support and strengthen clubs across Wales.

Speaking about her appointment, Gemma said:

“I originally applied for the Community Director role, however, the Club Development Director role was offered to me instead. Having been involved in a community boxing club for the past 14+ years, I feel I can bring a lot to the role.”

During her time at Llanrumney Phoenix Boxing Club, Gemma has played a key role in developing the club and creating new opportunities for its members and wider community.

“I have worked at Llanrumney Phoenix Boxing Club for the past 14 years. During that time, I have designed and delivered many courses and projects and secured funding to help us develop as a club.”

Gemma’s academic background in sport management has also provided her with a strong foundation of skills and knowledge that she has been able to apply directly within the club environment.

“I have a degree in Sport Management, and the skills and knowledge I have gained through that have transferred directly into what I do at the club.”

As Club Development Director, Gemma is passionate about helping clubs recognise their potential and the wider role they can play within their communities.

“The message I would like to share is that boxing clubs can be whatever they want to be. We can be more than just boxing clubs. We can be community hubs, places of safety and support, and I’m here to help with that.”

Gemma’s appointment brings significant grassroots and community experience to the Welsh Boxing Board, strengthening the organisation’s focus on supporting clubs to grow, develop and maximise their impact both inside and outside the boxing ring.

With her first-hand understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing community clubs, Gemma will play an important role in helping Welsh Boxing build stronger, more sustainable clubs and create greater opportunities for communities across Wales.
