North Wales Clubs Impress at the 40th HSK Box Cup in Denmark
Four North Wales boxing clubs (Denbigh & District ABC, Clwyd ABC, Dyffryn ABC (Colwyn Bay), and Llandudno ABC) proudly represented Welsh Boxing at the prestigious 40th Anniversary HSK Box Cup in Denmark. The international tournament, hosted in the impressive Royal Stage Arena, featured over 600 boxers from 18 nations, providing world-class experience for Wales’ rising amateur talent.
Denbigh & District ABC and Clwyd ABC
Denbigh & Clwyd ABC travelled as part of a North Wales team, led by coaches Tony Murphy and Neil Evans, alongside Llandudno ABC.
Their three competing boxers were:
Scott O’Shaughnessy (Denbigh & District ABC) — Narrow points loss in a brave performance.
Cai Murphy (Clwyd ABC) — Unanimous win in the semi-final; Silver medal in the final.
Harri Watkin Jones (Denbigh & District ABC) — Unanimous win in the semi-final; Silver medal in the final after boxing through injury.
Both Murphy and Watkin Jones came home with silver medals, representing their clubs and North Wales with pride and professionalism.

Dyffryn ABC
Dyffryn ABC had a remarkable weekend, taking home four gold medals and one silver:
Gold: Kegan Jones, Ethan Lloyd, Spencer Parry, Leon Hughes
Silver: Cayden Nolan
Each boxer delivered high-quality performances, with unanimous wins across several bouts against opponents from Denmark, Sweden, and Norway.

Llandudno ABC
Llandudno ABC also delivered an outstanding showing at the Box Cup, achieving five golds and three silvers.
Among the highlights was Gary Richards, who was named Boxer of the Tournament out of nearly 600 competitors, a phenomenal achievement for both him and the club.
Coach comments praised the team’s resilience, noting Mason McKillen’s courage after suffering a knee dislocation, and highlighting top wins for Ifan Hughes, Mitchel Jones, and Gary Richards.
North Wales Pride on the International Stage
The combined results demonstrate the strength and depth of North Wales amateur boxing, with medals across multiple clubs and weight classes.
