Nigel Davies Remembered
Welsh Boxing is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Nigel Davies, esteemed coach of the Cwmavon Hornets and devotee to the sport.
For over thirty years, Nigel dedicated himself to developing boxers in Wales and beyond. He guided over a hundred national champions and proudly represented Wales at European and World Championships. His expertise and leadership saw him coach at two Olympic Games (Beijing and London) working with talents including Fred Evans, Andrew Selby, Sean McGoldrick and Joe Cordina. Respected internationally, he also spent time as Head National Coach for The Netherlands.
Nigel’s influence reached far beyond the ring. In times gone by he had served Welsh Boxing in many roles, including the General Council, coaching commission and various committees.
Nigel’s countless hours of voluntary work to improve the sport of boxing in Wales earned him a Life Membership at Welsh Boxing in 2023, a testament to his tireless contribution.
Nigel Davies leaves behind a legacy of passion, excellence, and devotion to the sport he loved. He will be greatly missed by us at Welsh Boxing and all who knew him.
