Welsh Boxing Partners, Golden Gloves VR, Launch on Meta Quest

Welsh Boxing partners, Golden Gloves VR, has officially launched on the Meta Quest Store, marking a significant step forward for amateur boxing.

More than just a game, Golden Gloves VR is the first officially sanctioned esports boxing platform, connected to USA Boxing and the Pan American Boxing Confederation. Its launch signals a new era where virtual competition, real boxing fundamentals, and recognised pathways now exist side by side.

Supporting Boxing Development in Wales

Welsh Boxing has been working closely with Golden Gloves VR to explore how virtual reality can support athlete development, engagement, and accessibility within the sport. The platform was recently showcased and used during the 3 Nations Championships in Cardiff, giving boxers, coaches, and spectators hands-on exposure to elite-level virtual boxing training and competition.

The response highlighted how VR can complement traditional boxing environments — offering opportunities for conditioning, skill development, and participation without the need for physical contact or constant gym access.

Built on Real Boxing Values

Developed by experienced fighters and coaches, Golden Gloves VR is built around authentic boxing fundamentals, including timing, defence, combinations, endurance, and ring IQ. By removing barriers such as travel, equipment costs, and physical risk, the platform opens the sport to wider audiences while still respecting its core values.

Golden Gloves VR Founder Aaron Sloan explains:

“Golden Gloves VR is about breaking down barriers to the sport. You don’t need a gym, expensive equipment, or even a ring — and now there’s an official pathway to compete, be ranked, and be recognised from anywhere in the world.”

The platform’s partnership with Welsh Boxing represents an exciting opportunity to engage new audiences, support athlete development, and explore innovative pathways for the future of boxing in Wales.
