Welsh Boxing’s Daniel Pitt Joins World Boxing Athlete Committee

Welsh boxing talent Daniel Pitt has been elected to the prestigious World Boxing Athlete Committee following the inaugural World Boxing Championships in Liverpool.

Dan joins five other international athletes on the committee: Buse Naz Çakıroğlu (Turkey), Caitlin Parker (Australia), Richard Torrez Jr. (USA), Yojerlin Cesar (France) and Zareen Nikhat (India).

The Athlete Committee plays a crucial role in ensuring that boxers have a voice in shaping the future of the sport. The six members will provide advice, guidance, and opinions to World Boxing and nominate two representatives to contribute directly to World Boxing Executive Board meetings and Congress.

For Dan, the appointment is another milestone in an already impressive career. The Brecon native, who began boxing at 12 years old at Brecon Phoenix ABC, has built a reputation as one of the brightest young talents in Welsh boxing.

In 2024, Pitt became Youth World Champion in Colorado, adding to a glittering list of achievements that already include five international gold medals and back-to-back British titles. His rise reflects not only his dedication but also his growing influence on the world stage.

Beyond competition, Pitt remains deeply connected to the sport at grassroots level. He regularly supports Cardiff Met University Boxing Club and his local club Brecon Phoenix ABC, while also pursuing a degree in Sports Conditioning, Rehabilitation and Massage at Cardiff Met University.

Welsh Boxing CEO, Colin Metson, praised Pitt’s achievement:

“This is a massive step for Welsh Boxing and a proud moment for everyone connected to the sport in Wales. The Athlete Committee plays a crucial role in ensuring that boxers have a real voice in shaping the future of the sport, and for Wales to now have representation on this platform is hugely significant. Daniel’s election to the World Boxing Athlete Committee shows the respect he has already earned on the international stage. We would like to congratulate him on this incredible achievement and wish him every success in representing athletes worldwide.”

Pitt’s election to the Athlete Committee ensures that Welsh Boxing will have a strong voice at the heart of the sport’s global development. His experience as both an athlete and a mentor makes him well placed to represent the needs of boxers worldwide.

Congratulations Daniel!
