Welsh Boxing is pleased to announce the appointment of Rebeca Morgans Storer to its Board as Safeguarding Director, where she will provide strategic leadership and oversight of safeguarding across the organisation.
Rebeca joins Welsh Boxing with extensive experience in safeguarding, governance and legal practice, bringing a wealth of expertise to help strengthen the organisation’s commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone involved in the sport.
A qualified solicitor, Rebeca is currently Head of Safeguarding at Swansea City AFC, where she leads on safeguarding strategy, compliance, training and the support of children and adults across the Club. She also serves as a Trustee of Swansea City AFC Foundation, providing valuable experience in governance, strategic oversight and the important role sport plays in supporting communities. Her expertise spans safeguarding, risk management, policy development and collaborative working to create environments where people feel safe, supported and able to thrive.
Speaking about her appointment, Rebeca said:
“I was attracted to the opportunity because I am passionate about ensuring that sport provides a safe, positive and inclusive environment for everyone involved. Boxing is a sport with a proud history in Wales and plays an important role in communities across the country. I wanted to use my experience to support Welsh Boxing in continuing to develop its safeguarding culture and ensure that everyone involved has the opportunity to participate in a safe and supportive environment.”
Rebeca also highlighted the collective responsibility of safeguarding and the importance of embedding a positive culture across every level of the sport.
“Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Creating a safe environment requires the commitment and support of everyone involved in the sport, from Board members and clubs to coaches, volunteers and athletes.”
As she begins her role on the Board, Rebeca shared a message with the wider Welsh Boxing community:
“I look forward to working collaboratively with the Welsh Boxing community to listen, support and continue building a culture where everyone feels respected, valued and protected.”
Rebeca’s appointment reflects Welsh Boxing’s ongoing commitment to placing safeguarding at the heart of the organisation and ensuring the highest standards of care and welfare for everyone involved in the sport. Her expertise will play a key role in supporting Welsh Boxing’s continued development of a strong safeguarding culture across clubs and communities throughout Wales.
