The Welsh Boxing Board met on 2 June to discuss a range of important matters shaping the future of the sport across Wales, with positive updates received on both strategic development and performance pathways.
A key focus of the meeting was the encouraging response to Welsh Boxing’s recently launched strategy. Board members reviewed the positive feedback and strong engagement from clubs, members and stakeholders, highlighting the collective commitment to delivering long-term growth and success for boxing in Wales.
The Board also reflected on the continued success of Welsh Boxing’s community programme, which is creating new opportunities for participation and helping to extend the reach of the sport into communities across the nation. The programme continues to play an important role in making boxing more accessible while supporting health, wellbeing and community engagement.
Another significant area of discussion centred on preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Welsh Boxing Chair Jason Harborow, alongside Board members, welcomed the opportunity to meet with Adam Park, Colin Jones and Owain Harris-Allan to review progress as Team Wales enters the final stages of its preparations for Glasgow.
Speaking following the meeting, Welsh Boxing Chair Jason Harborow said:
