Welsh Boxing is inviting applications for its new High-Performance Coaching Cohort (HPCC), a two-year programme designed to develop the next generation of coaches within the Welsh Boxing performance pathway.

The programme will give selected coaches the opportunity to progress from club and developmental boxing into high performance, working with the next generation of Welsh international boxers.

Applications are welcome from coaches within Wales and beyond who have the required qualifications and experience, and can commit to the programme.

Develop through practical experience

Beginning in early 2027, the HPCC will combine online learning, face-to-face discussions and practical coaching, alongside experience at domestic and international competitions.

Selected coaches will work within the Welsh Boxing Development Programme or Female Development Programme, supported by the Head of Performance and Head of Coaching. They will receive financial remuneration for their regular practical coaching delivery.

The programme will also provide opportunities to coach Wales at the Four Nations Championships and gain experience at an overseas competition or training camp.

Coaches will be challenged and supported throughout to develop their ability to perform under pressure. The aim is to identify and develop coaches with the potential to take on greater responsibility within the Welsh Boxing performance pathway and represent Wales at international competitions.

Who should apply?

Welsh Boxing is looking for ambitious, athlete-centred coaches who are willing to learn, respond to feedback and work effectively within a coaching team.

Applicants must be able to meet the demands of the two-year programme, including regular practical coaching, compulsory learning modules and assessments, and domestic and international activity.

All applicants must:

  • Be aged 18 or over.
  • Hold a Welsh Boxing Club Coach Award, equivalent to Level 2, or a similar qualification from another National Governing Body.
  • Have a valid DBS certificate.
  • Hold an in-date safeguarding qualification.
  • Have a valid driving licence.

Full details of the programme, commitment required and selection criteria are available in the application pack.
