Welsh Boxing has today launched a new strategy designed to strengthen boxing across Wales, from grassroots communities to the elite international stage.
The new strategy marks the beginning of a new chapter for the sport, built around two core pillars: Community and Performance. Together, these pillars will guide Welsh Boxing’s work over the coming years as the organisation seeks to expand participation, strengthen its elite pathway, and ensure boxing continues to play a meaningful role in communities across the nation.
At the heart of the strategy is a clear ambition: to make boxing more accessible, more inclusive, and more impactful for people across Wales.
Independent Chair of Welsh Boxing, Jason Harborow, emphasised the importance of this moment for the organisation.
“Boxing has deep roots in Welsh communities. It has always been more than just a sport. It is a place where people build confidence, discipline, and belonging.
This strategy is about honouring that history while building a stronger future. We want every person in Wales to feel that boxing is a sport that welcomes them, whether they step into the ring, walk into a local club to get fit, or support their community.”
The Community pillar focuses on widening access to boxing across the country, supporting local clubs, and encouraging more people to engage with the sport in a way that suits them. Welsh Boxing aims to create opportunities for people of all backgrounds, ensuring the sport reflects the diversity of modern Wales.
Participation from women and girls, increased engagement with young people, and stronger connections with communities across both urban and rural Wales will form a central part of this work. The organisation is committed to ensuring boxing is a sport where everyone can see themselves represented.
Alongside this, the Performance pillar will strengthen the pathway for Welsh athletes aiming to compete on the biggest stages in world sport. By investing in coaching, talent development, and performance environments, Welsh Boxing aims to support the next generation of Welsh boxers competing at major championships, including the Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games, and other international competitions.
By raising standards at the elite level, Welsh Boxing believes the entire sport will benefit, inspiring future champions and strengthening the reputation of Welsh boxing globally.
Beyond its national ambitions, Welsh Boxing is positioning itself as a progressive and globally relevant organisation within the sport. Through a clearer structure, stronger governance, and a more defined long-term vision, the organisation is taking a significant step forward in its level of professionalism. This evolution is designed not only to strengthen delivery within Wales, but also to align Welsh Boxing with leading international standards.
By combining a powerful community foundation with a credible performance pathway and a modern, marketable identity, Welsh Boxing is creating a more compelling proposition for partners and investors. The organisation is committed to building meaningful, long-term relationships that go beyond traditional sponsorship, offering genuine value through impact, visibility, and association with a sport deeply embedded in Welsh culture.
Central to this new chapter is the introduction of Welsh Boxing’s refreshed identity. More than a visual change, it reflects a unified and confident organisation, rooted in Welsh heritage while embracing a modern, outward-looking future. Designed to be clear, recognisable, and adaptable across all platforms, the new identity strengthens how Welsh Boxing presents itself to athletes, communities, partners, and international audiences alike, supporting its ambition to grow the sport and elevate its presence on a global stage.
As Welsh Boxing continues to grow, it aims to become a recognised leader in the global boxing landscape, demonstrating how a national governing body can successfully balance community impact with elite performance while operating with the professionalism and ambition required to attract investment and drive sustainable growth.
