Welsh Boxing Chair Attends House of Lords for Wales Week London

Welsh Boxing Chair Jason Harborow represented the organisation at ‘Journeys of Ambition in 2026’, held at the House of Lords as part of Wales Week London.

The event was presented by Team Wales’ Chef de Mission Gethin Jones and delivered on behalf of Team Wales, alongside event partners Mauve Group and Principality Building Society. It brought together national governing bodies, current and former athletes, and key stakeholders involved in preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Reflecting on the evening, Harborow said:

“It was a great evening at the House of Lords. We were able to meet lots of other governing bodies and people involved with the road to Glasgow. There were some excellent presentations from current and former athletes, and there was just a really good feel and enthusiasm for what Team Wales can achieve in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.”

He highlighted the collective ambition shared across Welsh sport:

“What I got from the evening was that there was a tremendous amount of energy and ambition from everybody involved. All of the governing bodies, all of the athletes, everybody who’s preparing the teams was very ambitious for Wales to do well. For Welsh Boxing, we are very much focused on a very successful Commonwealth Games. The athletes are already in training, they’re doing well, they’re very focused, and we are expecting a very positive Games and some really good outcomes.”

Focused on the Future

As Chair of Welsh Boxing, Jason continues to work closely with the internal team to ensure the organisation progresses both strategically and operationally.

“My role as Chair at Welsh Boxing is about working closely with the internal team to make sure the business moves forward positively, but more importantly looking towards the future.”

The coming weeks promise to be pivotal for the organisation. A board meeting will review strategic priorities for the next four to five years, including discussions around a potential new identity for Welsh Boxing. Reports from the performance team will also provide key updates on athlete preparation ahead of Glasgow 2026.

With the Welsh Boxing National Championships taking place on April 17th and a new long-term strategy set to launch in April, the organisation is entering an exciting new chapter.

With ambition high and preparations well underway, Welsh Boxing is firmly focused on making its mark at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
